Eco Tours - Green dreams

Firstly; how to travel safely:
Listed on Top 10 eco-tourism hotspots, Borneo in Malaysia was home to the first "Survivor" series. Luckily they had a large crew on their side to keep them safe. Often times if you travel to some unspoiled wilderness, the travelling can get a little rough. That's why when heading out on eco-tours, it's important to take extra precautions. While eco-tourism is better for the environment than rip-the-reef-to-bits hotel development, safety should always be your top priority....
1. Make copies of your passport details, insurance policy, travellers checks, visas and credit card numbers. Carry one copy in a separate place to the originals and leave a copy with someone at home.
2. Check with health professionals for information on recommended vaccinations or other precautions and find out about overseas laws on travelling with medicines. Make sure that you have full travel insurance.
3. Leave a copy of your travel itinerary with someone at home and keep in regular contact with friends and relatives while overseas.
4. Check one of the international government website before you leave to make sure your destination is safe to travel. The UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office site is particularly useful (www.fco.gov.uk) or try the CIA World Fact Book ( www.cia.gov ).
